Subject: The most moving book I have ever read.....
In 1970, I was lying in hospital, when a friend gave me this book to read. I was awaiting an eye operation, and I knew I wouldn't be able to read for about six months, so I read almost non-stop. Every few lines or paragraphs, I would have to stop, because the shame I felt for my fellowhuman beings turned to burning anger. My eyes swelled with tears, my throat was dry, and for all the world I wanted to cry out "Why, oh why?"
I had a lot of South African friends, of Indian origin, and I felt their pain many times over.
Thank you Father Trevor Huddleston for this most treasured book.
